Over the last years, Africa has traded an average of 1000 billion dollars with the world, 50% of which includes exports and 50% imports. Of course, in the past few years, the trade balance in Africa has been negative and the import rate has always been millions of dollars more than its export rate.

In recent years, an average of 600 million dollars of products have been directly exported from Iran to Africa. Not to mention some Iranian products which have been exported through the channel of other countries.

The value of exported items to African countries in the last few years is as follows: In 2012, 760 million dollars, in 2013, 860 million dollars, in 2014, 811 million dollars, in 2015, 624 million dollars, in 2016, 608 million dollars, in 2017, 776 million dollars, in 2018, 640 million dollars, in 2019, 650 million dollars, in 2020, 58 million dollars, and in the first 6 months of 2021, 573 million dollars. One major portion of the export products to Africa is machine-made carpets. Every year, Avisa Carpet Company exports thousands of square meters of carpet to Africa.

In recent times, many efforts have been made to help develop trade between African countries and Iran. This has been done through building commercial infrastructures as well as joint trade committees, holding exhibitions, sending commercial advisers to Africa, informing about Iran’s opportunities and capabilities, holding joint commercial conferences, and communicating with Iranian embassies in African countries and in Tehran
